We can take further political discussion of it to the PRR thread, but I think that for purposes of the market analysis, there may be a feeling amongst some leaders who are on the front lines of dealing with Muslim violence that the only way to deal with it is militarily and harshly. Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying they might conclude that. India's Parliament was blown up and a bunch of people killed a few months back. How would we respond if the Capitol was shot up by Pakistani militants? I doubt we would mass troops on the border and then say, "oh never mind."

So I think the catalyst for a V-shaped bottom like last September's is in place, and that is probably a major reason why the market has been unable to sustain a rally recently.
