I can live on less than half of what I make, it all depends on how well you want to live. My monthy costs are less than 40% of my salary (not including bonuses or commish) and I have 5 mouths to feed on this one income. This is by choice, the problem with people today, they try and keep up with the Joneses... This creates a perpetual need to spend more and more money. My friends have wives that work, put their kids in daycare all to live the good life and pay lots of CC interest... What they don't realize is sometimes it costs more in daycare/stress/family life to do this.

The way I look at it as I have a duty to raise my kids to the best of my ability. To me that means having one parent stay home no matter the sacrafice. Don't get me wrong I have my toys and enjoy life, but my plan is to be done working in the next 6 years and semi-retire at the age of 40... Provided that the economy doesn't go in the $hitter I should be able to do this.
