People are insane. You might be right. But, as Lindybill says, it is good to be the king. So good that some people are willing to kill, literally or figuratively, everyone who stands in their way. If the United States were not a democratic republic, we would be constantly torn with internecine wars, too. I remain unconvinced that democracy is the answer without a large middle class, or that democracy will work unless the population is educated, or that democracy will work when the people are extremely divided. One of these days I will have to read the Koran. My husband has a copy. Based on what bin Laden says, it seems to have a lot of stuff about killing people who don't believe, but maybe he's only picking the parts he likes and ignoring what's inconvenient to his mindset. BTW, the Holocaust Museum now has two baskets of booklets for visitors, one for females and one for males. I was a Rumanian Jew who escaped the Holocaust. My son was a French resistance fighter who was executed. My husband was a German Jew who was executed.
