That's what those caught trading with the enemy said in WWII. They were punished anyway. And, yes, the money trail and interdiction of funds was also used.
Back then, the leadership of our country actually cared about the issues involving danger to the population. Our leadership clearly cares more about maintaining profitable oil deals, than protecting the public.
There is an incremental progression from "lives in the Gulf War for oil" to the current "keep trading with the enemy that helps murder American civilians, for oil". Once the American public lets you sacrifice lives for oil in the Gulf War, I guess you can have the audacity to keep letting civilians die and their cities threatened, for more such deals with "friends".
These are not friends of Americans. Perhaps of Bush, not me.
Many Americans feels the same way, and if given the chance, would choose the pump marked "non-Terrorist Gas".
That is "ill-conceived", in the same way the Trading with Enemies Act is ill-conceived. |
