IKON Adds Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 9000MFP to Digital Arsenal; Targets New Business, Increased Page Volumes Through IT/MIS Decision Makers

VALLEY FORGE, Pa., May 23, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- IKON Office Solutions, Inc. (IKN) today announced another milestone in its expanding Hewlett-Packard relationship with the addition of the HP LaserJet 9000MFP to IKON's lineup of digital output devices from industry leaders like Canon, Ricoh and Oce.

IKON intends to leverage the HP brand to drive MFP placements for businesses that rely extensively on network printers for their document production needs. This approach to a highly competitive digital marketplace is designed to pave the way for IKON to capture incremental new business and increased page volumes in the network print environment.

"The addition of Hewlett-Packard page printers to our product roster last year helped round out IKON's offering," said Cathy Lewis, Senior Vice President of Marketing for IKON Office Solutions. "Now, the introduction of the HP LaserJet 9000MFP brings us even closer to IT/MIS decision makers, whose reliance on HP printers makes this an excellent means of opening new doors. Hewlett-Packard technology, combined with IKON's expertise in consultative sales and distribution, creates a compelling value proposition to benefit our customers."

"IKON will play a major role in HP's go-to-market strategy, which includes a new `convergence' channel partner who can combine the networking expertise and strong IT relationships of traditional printer resellers with the high-touch service and sales capabilities, strong facilities management relationships, and flexible financing services of traditional copier resellers," said Kevin J. Gilroy, Vice President and General Manager, HP North American Channels.

The 50-page-per-minute HP LaserJet 9000MFP offers monochrome printing and copying, color scanning and digital sending capabilities -- in one single, compact device. Workgroup users will enjoy the convenience of streamlined workflow and expanded features and functions, accessible in an easily recognizable interface.

Meanwhile, IT/MIS professionals can seamlessly provide the same level of end-user support available for network printer fleets, from familiar print drivers to remote monitoring and device management.
