There is not much evidence to support this statement. This is as much a clash of material differences as it is a clash of culture. When the material clash is no longer justified the culture clash will remain. Right now it is hard to tell which one motivates the attacks...evidence suggests that both do.

Al, I base my opinion from viewing the nature of other blood feuds similar to this one. For an example, there are minor cultural differences between the N. EIRE Catholics and the N. Eire Protestants. However, the feud has run as hot and hotter than this one. What does separate the Catholics and the Protestants is economics. And isn't it ironic that just as N. Eire's economic prospects are improving, the feud seems to be cooling.

I stand by my earlier statement.
