Thanks for the partial explanation. If you read some of the links in that article, you will see that the concept of India is created by British for administrative purpose and hence there was no country called India to begin with.

E.V Periyar's demand was before Independence and probably not many people know why he started demanding seperate country for Dravidians (not Tamils alone). It was because of Brahminical atrocities in Indian National Congress. It was after a bitter experience in one of the National Conferences in which there was two different lunch preparations one for Brahmins and one for the others. Or at least that is one of explnations given by Periyar as to why he wanted to be out of India based on what he endured and what he thought was shaping to be in such a country even before Independance was granted.
