Telstra makes mobile satellite more accessible

22 May 2002

Handheld mobile satellite communications will be within reach of more rural and remote Australians following the announcement today of pricing plans for Telstra Mobile Satellite, powered by the Iridium Satellite System.

Telstra Mobile Satellite is one of three major products announced today to benefit rural and regional telecommunications users.

Telstra Country WideTM Group Managing Director, Mr Doug Campbell, said the ability to make satellite calls within Australia from a Telstra Mobile Satellite phone for as little as 43 cents [AUD] per 30 second* block is a major breakthrough. [24 cents USD, quote.yahoo.com ]
