The best thing you can say about these explanations is that they show political ineptitude. The worst is that they point to a colossal intelligence failure. msnbc.com Gephart is right, Bush doesn't have the capacity to understand his role as head of the government. Nobody doubts that he was more in tune with the next barbeque in Crawford than international enemies so it's futile to think that Bush could have put the pieces together in this puzzle.
