90% of these problems are not "market first". If we don't have a market, then we don't have the money for science. All these pundits exist on government feedbags paid for by industrial taxes. Few of them could operate in economically crippled environments. Without progress there will be no solutions. The problem these scientists need to talk about is not sustainable development, although this is important, but sustainable population. It's not a problem of market first, its a problem of pecker first. Asia has to curb its population growth. We heard talk of this in the 70's but they failed to do anything about it. Afterwards we heard blather about genocide etc.. when western people wanted to make birth control easily available for countries that desperately need it like India. All they want to do is outpopulate the rest of the world.

Birth control is the answer.
