Your points are well taken.

I do not maintain that I am purely in the public service. But as exposing the fraudulent nature of a scam is essential to making a profit, the fraud is eventually stopped.

Otherwise, it would go on longer and longer, more stock would be sold than is the case with shortsellers exposing it.

Using information obtained illegally is, of course, illegal. Not exposing information in exchange for payments from the scammers is ethically wrong in my book.

I still don't quite get what is the damage done, specifically, to any individuals (other than outright scammers), assuming that the allegations are substantially true.

Sorry to be dense on that point.
