Reform is in the air...

(I wonder what brought this "ridiculous" idea about??)

UK financial services sector 'set for major shake-up'

The financial services industry is reportedly facing its biggest shake-up in more than a century.

The Times says the revamp will follow what is set to be a hard-hitting report to the Treasury on the industry's practices.

The newspaper cites sources close to Ron Sandler, the former Lloyd's of London head commissioned by the Government to head the industry review.

It reports that Mr Sandler will sharply criticise UK savings products and recommend wide-ranging changes.

According to the Times, Mr Sandler is expected to recommend the creation of a new class of simple, inexpensive savings products which can be sold without the need for costly financial advice.
