The initial reports from DOJ seem to indicate that they are attempting to 'manage' the issue; keep it contained to the areas (actions of the local county election officials) which are least likely to tar the Governor's office.

The 'proof of the pudding' as it were, is whether the prosecution will be expanded to investigate the voter purges.

When Jeb Bush fired the firm that had previously been purging the voter rolls of felons (at an annual cost to the state of some $5,300) and hired one for $4.3 million... I suspect he knew what he was contracting for.

When the newly hired firm complained that - under the instructions Bush and Harris and issued to them - there would be many 'false positives', they were told not to worry with additional cross-checks of the names purged... partial matches were acceptable.

To me this appears a far more callous action than any of the possible mistakes the local officials made.
