No, this was totally a politically-motivated highly-driven media, legal and political campaign. The porn got the media attention. The rest of it was what they were after, and didn't care how much it hurt the culture of the country, or how much it offended.

The offense was intentional and desirable, since it reduced voter participation, sickened voters of the entire process, and increased the relative participation of Republicans. These are the calculations of Republican political consultants, and the party dutifully goes along.

Cynical, and certainly hypocritical for any Republican espousing "family values" who ferociously pushed pornographic power politics, at the expense of family values.
