Kenneth, Since your profile indicates that you are in your early sixties, why do you not expect to be around in 2016??
I'm older than you are and sure as hell expect to be around then. Just because you will have recovered all of your social security payments, and the puny amount of interest made smaller because of governmental bureaucracy, the payments will not stop. Had the democrats, namely FDR, or more likely Eleanor, had not imposed a government run system, and allowed workers to invest their own funds, neither you, nor anyone else would have anything to worry about. There never was a social security fund and, therefore, there were no factual surpluses. The moneys sent in to pay FICA have always been dipped into to bolster the general funding of the nation, and both parties would be equally guilty except for the fact that Democrats, historically, have squandered more money than the Republicans. |
