I think all this talk about "fist tape out" is a little silly. AMD has been developing the hammer ALONG side the 0.13 SOI process. Who know what the bottle neck was, the process or the design. There is no official description as to what constitutes a "first tape out". AMD has been processing silicon relating to the hammer project since late 1999. Of course it was nothing close to piece that could execute instructions.
