That's a bummer. But have you verified for sure that your University is in the Social Security system? Some state and local governments in the US opted out of the Social Security System years ago. University of Illinois was opted out, but RPI is a private university and I don't think it has. This is based on the contribution to the retirement scheme from salary only being 1%: rpi.edu Whereas Illinois was 8% or something and they stated there was no FICA tax. David
