1X is for the most part a relacement sale and once sold I wonder what the replacement cycle will be with 1X handsets.</>

L, you touch on a good point, unless 1X proves to be the catalyst for market share gains I don't hold much excitement about 1X. As an investor all I care about does 1X allow and facilatate the stealing of customers from all the so called idiot carriers who are not going 1X. So far I have only heard a whisper of it from KDDI. VZ seems to be shooting itself in the head with 1X.
I'll wait on Sprint to see if they can make a difference with 1X.
Korea doesn't count cause all carriers are 1X, no head to head competition.
If there is ever going to be a chance that carriers are going to favor CDMA or GSM1X over other technologies, 1X must prove to the CEOs of the other carriers that it is effecting their bottomline in a big way by not going 1X. That means they need to start seeing a loss in subscribers!
That's the only language they understand.

Good article in this week's Business week about the 3G Bubble/Fiasco in Euroland.
