Lucent China Wins ADSL and ATM Backbone Contracts in Guangdong and Hainan

SHANGHAI, May 24 (INTERFAX-CHINA) - Lucent Technology (China) Co. announced to Interfax that it has secured a contract with Guangdong Telecom for the expansion of the broadband ADSL access network in southern China's Guangdong Province.

In addition, the company was contracted by Hainan Telecom to expand the current ATM backbone in southern China's Hainan Province.

Under the contract with Guangdong Telecom, Lucent China, and its partner Guangzhou Tai-Li-Pu Communications Technologies Co., will jointly provide Stinger DSL access integrators and AnyMedia access systems.

The equipment will be deployed on networks in such cities as Guangzhou and Dongguan. Upon completion of the expansion, Guangdong Telecom will be able to provide rich value-added broadband services to its subscribers including VOD, high-speed Internet assess, videoconferencing, web-based broadband online games, and voice over DSL.

The existing ATM backbone of Hainan Telecom deploys Lucent's multi-business backbone switcher, CBX500. Under the contract, Lucent China, in cooperation with Beijing Ruike Guangxun Network Technologies Co., will provide Hainan Telecom with its broadband multi-business solutions, which can offer end-to-end QoS (quality of service) on a single platform.
