Too much cash might be a bad thing, but not enough cash is much, much worse. We will have to wait through this slump and possibly even longer before judging who has been smart and who hasn't.

A point in case. Medarex who appears on the list of dumb biotechs with too much cash on their hands and too few ideas in their heads, managed to scoop up Corixa's conjugating technology including linkers, potent toxins and some targets as well as the responsibility to support a further 30 scientists.

Corixa on the other hand with a lot of ideas but not enough funds ended up almost empty-handed.

No doubt Medarex came out as the winner in that transaction because of the status of their bank accounts.
