CHrisJP - Well I think that means that it is recovering and that some companies are going to see improved earnings just not the old tech favorites.

I for one thought that if the economy slowed compaines would do whatever was enecessary to reduce costs and that would have meant capital spending remained at a good level becasue that is one important way of doing that. Doens't seem to have happened.

I can however see quite a bit of the bandwidth being used and by the gloabla introduction of video into the system. Take SI for instance. Typing to eachother is old tech and we ought by now to be chatting to eathother on v&VoIP.

So for that matter ought a number of one on one contacts and videoconferencing. So forinstance if I wanted to discuss or buy anything I ought to be able to get someone face to face. That ought to give another boost to the infrastructure requirement.

THere is I guess a railway aspect to some of this but i5t isn't entirely comaparable. Railways were one technology and we are involved with several, some of which have a railway aspect like the European GSM network and handset sales for instance and some do not like the US cdma network and its handsets. Two entirely different technologies.

Same for biotech. Why should biotech be cyclical. Shorts will pay just as much as longs for a drug that will save their lives.

Same for several other tech areas. In any event no doubt there was overbuidling in 1999 and we had the benefit of the milenium bug but there was nothing special about the cylicality of 1999 to say that all the tech areas ended a period of cylcical growth in March 00.

Best,

L
