irv- please dont mistake my direct approach for an eagerness to flame. however, i must disagree with your premise that sgi could or would be like all the other intc/msft box makers. in the commodity business, there is no opportunity for innovation. its price and delivery. period. as far as marketing, just exactly what has dell, gateway, etc done? absolutely nothing. its intel and microsoft that have done all the marketing! people buy dell, compaq, gateway produced machines because they have an intel processor and run microsoft operating systems. _not_ because the machine is inherently superior. regards, kris
