CB,
attacking, capturing or destroying related civilian property has always been part of the war process.

witness the scorched earth policy of several previous wars, WWII fire bombing of cities, the use of nukes on civilian targets, the WTC attack, etc. i can think of dozens of other examples.

it seems more outrageous now because with modern commo systems the press can put a face on it.

the type of confrontation you saw in the gulf war...where US Forces directly confronted the enemy in the open in unpopulated areas is what we all want, but it is very unusual. the arabs have now seen and learned that overwhelming fire superiority cannot be overcome by bowing to the east 5x a day. they have to become sneaky, tricky and dirty and they are doing exactly that.

war is a bitch, and it has been and remains harmful to all living things, not just soldiers. i believe the US govt warnings to us, and i believe America is going to get taken to some more classes on this very subject and soon.

the ultimate solution is for all American civilians to prepare to fight, either with a good offense or a sound defensive strategy for their family.

When we know if Americans will fight like Francis Marion and his men...when we know if Americans will stand and look their enemy in the eye and say give me liberty or give me death, we will know the outcome.

while we wait, we can begin to get an idea of the outcome by seeing if American civilians choose to continue to elect obstructionist, non-performing leaders like daschle. these guys do nothing to prepare us for the next battle...absolutely nothing. does anyone really want to go back to the clinton way of demolishing our armed forces and fighting ability from within even as the fight is beginning?

can anyone name one thing that the obstructionists have done since 9/11 to prepare you and your family to survive the next attack?

do we prepare for and develop a capability to defend ourselves or do we conduct witch hunts in a search for the guilty so we can punish the innocent? if we choose the latter, the attacks will continue unabated and increase in ferocity. that is the nature of war. and the obstructionist leaders will be sitting in their investigatory committee meetings when the flag is ripped from the capitol by our enemies.

great leaders do much...and as a result they make (in retrospect many mistakes). great leaders can adjust to fluid situations on the fly and make even better decisions as the situation develops. obstructionists are overwhelmed and frozen in fear whenever things do not go according to their plan. they make few mistakes because they do nothing.
