Dan, maybe you or someone else can help me. I am not sure if I downloaded a worm or virus last Friday or not. I made the mistake on Friday of opening an email which required me to down load a message. Normally, unless I know the sender, I never hit download. For some weird reason, I did this time.......it was from a porno site. <g>

To make matters worse, I had shut off my Norton Anti-Virus along with other programs preparatory to running scandisk and doing a defrag. When I try to activate Norton in order to do a scan, it crapped out. I have since deleted Norton and tried to reload it, first with a 2001 CD which I think is corrupted now and then with a 2000 CD.......which was a successful reload but I can't get the program to come up and do a scan. Its says the integrator can not be initialized.

The worm or virus if that's what it is is called Winkygr.exe. I have tried to get rid of it thru deleting if off of my MSCONFIG and then doing a reboot but to know avail......its still there.

I have tried to get rid of it by deleting the file folder but I get a warning sign saying that its running with Windows and can not be deleted. While I am using my PC, every so often I hear something running but nothing happens. I have never had a virus or worm so I have no idea if this is one or not. I have a checked to a few programs and files and so far they seem okay. However, I don't know how long it takes a worm to trash a PC.

Any clues or any advise........anyone?

TIA.

ted
