Diary.. Saturday morning. A light drizzle.. Decided to clean up the 2nd balcony.. two rows of stacked boxes since we moved here.. Never touched them and during winter, two of the boxes toppled over covering half the balcony.. Rain and wind have made a mess.. Won't be able to salvage much.. Some keep sakes.. Oh well.. Waffling is not going to improve my state of mind.. Better get on with the job.. Two boxes still standing.. One tilted against the corner wall.. Better straighten that up before cleaning the mess.. I am stalling.. Leaned over and pulled the tilted box abruptly.. Fluttering of wings.. A dove.. Before I know, a nest, small twigs and branches comes crashing down on the concrete floor.. scattered.. Don't notice the bird and where it is gone.. Distressing sight.. a shattered nest and one lone egg.. smashed.. Few minutes have passed.. still looking at the nest.. Compelling sight.. Still drizzling.. Looked around for the dove.. See one facing the balcony on the roof of a house about twenty feet from the balcony.. Unusual sight.. Not sure if I have ever seen a bird sitting still under rain.. May be my imagination working over time.. Better get on with the job.. Start with the nest.. an hour and half to clean up.. the bird is gone.. My mood has not improved.. Sunday morning Cooing sounds.. Open the blinds.. Same bird and another pigeon on balcony railing.. great.. now building a nest on my guilt.. Open the balcony door slowly but birds are startled.. Take off.. Monday morning No birds in sight..
