I'm so glad that you get to see Seattle sans umbrella. It is a beautiful city, although I think Portland is prettier still.

I'll never forget the first year I lived in Portland. During the month of May the sun appeared once for half a day. A week before the big annual Rose Festival celebrations, My brother and sister-in-law came to visit and we went to the world-famous International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park. Normally, the hundreds of bushes are loaded with thousands of blooms at that time of year. There were so few that we could count them: 8 blooming flowers.

It didn't really matter because the view from there of the city and Mt. Hood is breathtaking.
