Happy Memorial Day. Today is my first Memorial Day without my Dad. My family traveled to Hawk Mountain to honor our past. With my Fathers passing the Hildenbrand's Best Generation is gone. Dad was the baby in the family. Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of Auschwitz or/or Treblenka. I am not sure. He waited 50 years to say few words. He once said the prisoners were too weak to punch their Nazi guards when they were freed. But they were able to squeeze a trigger. Why talk about it. He spent most of his life making America a better place after that. Anything good was possible. Now I carry the past in my heart and the future is in sight. May God bless our generation to do right. God bless my Dad. And all the brave men and women who served. Runner
