You are the one who brought up Nixon, not I.
It is not unpatriotic per se to question the plans of the Administration, but it is pretty disloyal to engage in broadbrush attack, without a sense of restraint considering that one is not privy to all of the intelligence information, nor doe one have to deal with the internal and diplomatic politics of the situation, nor is one, in the end, on the spot to do the right thing.
I don't know about your professed willingness to drink beer with members of the Administration. Usual, you accuse them of being profiteers, not caring about the interests of the country, consciously protecting the sponsors of terrorism, and have suggested that they may have conspired to permit the 9-11 attacks in order to use jingoism to hold onto and expand their power. That sounds pretty hostile to me. I cannot imagine why you would want to have a beer with people you regularly accuse of being, in essence, power mad, greedy, and enemies of democracy, and so forth, but I cannot contradict your assertion. I have hostility for people that I have to socialize with sometimes, though, so it means little....... |
