GZTC is keeping a close eye on plant transgenics and hasn't ruled out the possibility of getting into this field in the future. However, plant transgenics is years behind animal transgenics, both scientifically and in the regulatory arena. It is not clear at this point that plants can ever be made to meet FDA's manufacturing standards. We already know that transgenic animals can meet these standards.

Glycosylation can be a very big isssue for some proteins, but not necessarily an insurmountable one. The glycosylation patten can be reworked after the protein is produced. We do this with Ceredase(R) and Cerezyme(R), in fact. But having to remodel the protein in this way will add cost to the process. It's always preferable to get the ideal glycosylation pattern from the start.
