mmmary,
Hmmm...
I'd say that A@P's reports ranked in the very high 90th percentile for accuracy, but I'd hardly call them fair. Fair is a subjective term, and what's fair or not fair is left to the mind of the beholder. In my opinion, Tony quite frequently overstepped the line in reporting, using terms or phrases that were vehement, provoking, just plain vulgar, not nice, etc... But for anyone who "knew" him, this was/is his style. I'm not condoning nor condemning his style. Each person has to decide for himself or herself what is fair and what isn't. Yes, I'm well aware that many of the touts that did battle with Tony used the same tactics (and worse) themselves, but in my mind, two wrongs don't make it right to behave in such a manner... I prefer to think that Tony was/is smart enough to thoroughly make his point without resorting to abusive and vulgar behavior on public threads. But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
