server price cuts affected the Intel Xeon Processor Server/Workstation models, as opposed to the higher-end Xeon MPs. Prices for the 64-bit Itanium processors also stayed the same.

A 2.2-GHz Xeon came in for the sharpest price cut among server processors, dropping 44 percent from $465 each in 1,000-unit quantities to $262. Models ranging from 1 GHz to 2 GHz also have new prices from 10 percent to 27 percent less than what they were before the weekend.

Wow, Intel's second fastest Xeon now has an official list price of $262. Intel's small workstation/server business must be under enormous pressure from the Athlon MP. Mid-Range servers are next.
