Best Turn Based Strategy

X-Com: Apocalypse (Microprose)

Scoffing at all those who said it could not be done, Microprose has successfully created a game that seamlessly allows the player to choose real-time or turn based play. With all the enthralling detail and often eery combat of the original, Apocalypse adds the engrosing detail of a complex cityscape. Complete with city-wide intrigue, alien invasions, and economic blackmail, X-Com: Apocalypse builds on, rather than mimics, its predecessors. Special congratulations are in order to Microprose for reminding us that sometimes turn based is just more fun than real-time.

Nominees:

Panzer General II (SSI)
Guardians: Agents of Justice (Microprose)
Jagged Alliance 2 (Sir-Tech)
Warlords III (Red Orb)
