Apparently Intel is crowing that the "Itanium 2" is 50% faster than SPARC? Given that (1) I bet they selected the comparison that looked the best for them; (2) they're comparing a "to be available real soon now" device with a deployed chip; (3) they haven't announced pricing as far as I know; and (4) raw speed is only one factor of many in selecting a system -- the Itanium 2 doesn't seem like a very formidable competitor.
