Dan3, re: "Wow, Intel's second fastest Xeon now has an official list price of $262."

I didn't notice that. However, Intel didn't change the prices on the large cache P3 or P4 server chips and the P4 Xeon 2.4GHz stayed at $615 so there was is a big jump for the top speed. The recent Ace's article noted a heavy demand skew for server chip speeds towards the top speed available and I wonder if this is the case here?

The P4M took a much higher %drop than the P3M so that the top speeds (45% on P4M-1.8GHz and 13% on P3M-1.2GHz) are now the same price.
