milo, re: "Because 95% of the software is just that" The relevant question is what % of software in the market the Itanium is targeting is 32-bit x86. I don't see the IA-64 architecture entering the PC market for a long time. This really will be just a server chip unlike prior architecture transitions in x86 which were "server only." -PT
