What causes capitulation selling/buying? that is a different question.

I don't own gold....(other than gold jewelry <g>)....but IMO what might start a sell off in the various gold stocks would be a Nasdaq rally that involved some of the technology stocks. A Nasdaq rally....(even if it was a short covering rally) might cause a sell off in some of the areas that have been strengths in the market. Those who are long in these stocks might decide to take profits, and move their money into areas that have been "beaten down", and could possibly benefit from a "bounce back" rally.
