Color me ecowhacko, but when has anyone ever cleaned up a mess like that. What, add it to the EPA superfund? We did such a good job cleaning up after the Exxon Valdez. Anyone eat fish out of the Great Lakes recently? The Chernoble mess was contained, but not cleaned up. It is a ghost town now. How is America doing at cleaning up the Hanford site? Last I heard, we were estimating WHEN the Columbia river would get contaminated. Seems like these intelligence clowns need to wake up and smell the coffee. How about that DU (depleted Uranium) tank buster shell bits that the A-10 warthogs left in the Gulf war? We swept that under the rug, spinning is a very poor substitute for cleaning. Didn't Europe keep those DU shells out of Kosovo? NIMBY not in my backyard. When 'experts' like these are talking about nuclear war like this, are they really doing anything but re-hashing the "remain calm, everything is under control" BS?
Lindy, help me, Who was the author of "On the Beach", Nevil something? The story about folks waiting for the radioactive clouds of WWIII to kill them. Nobody is mentioning worldwide effects, why? Are the experts saying there won't be any? Maybe the spin is to not talk about the real problems and get a few fast body count estimates, combined with Chandra Levy to be the depth of the conversation? Maybe I am too conspiracy-centric?
