So you believe that the Windows registry doesn't get fouled up unless the user does something wrong?

Then you simply don't know what you're talking about.

I can and do make mistakes, but the fact is that there are a number of things that can break the registry even when the user does everything by the book.

For a moment, though, let's assume that there are no faulty programs, only faulty users. Fine. How is it okay, even then, that you have to reinstall all your programs if you need to do a clean reinstallation of your OS?
