"If the counterparty banks try and sue Barrick to deliver the gold ahead of the contract due date, Barrick will sue them for the balance of the bond principle and interest to maturity, of course if the counterparty banks are bankrupt, they can't deliver, so Barrick keeps the gold to sell for big bucks.
