Our politicians don't seem to worry enough about the consequences of allowing so many different kinds of core manufacturing expertise to migrate completely out of the U.S. This is one way in which globalisation of commerce and national security conflict. There are ways in which they reinforce each other, and ways in which they conflict. It could be a bit of a mess for us to be in a wartime situation with inadequate sources for semiconductors. --QS
