The SPEC integer score was 701.

That's 10% faster than the Athlon MP 2000+ and within 5% of a 2GHz Xeon, both of which have the benefit of a finely tuned compiler. As Itanium matures, so will the compiler.

You might want to compare it to the 1GHz Alpha, which it can outperform by more than 12%. Or the 1.1GHz Power4, which it can outperform by about 3%. You might as well even compare it to the Sun UltraSparc III at 1050MHz, which it can outperform by 30%.

Not sure about the Celeron 600MHz, but the lowest score submitted by Intel is a 650MHz Pentium III, which scores 295 on SPECint. Itanium 2 outperforms this by 2.4x.
