<font color=red>AMD 4-way Systems at Computex FULL SPEED

xbit reported this late last night:

AMD to Showcase 4-Way System on June 3 [11:37 pm] Rat

At the upcoming Computex 2002 show in Taipei, which is going to start on June 3, AMD will for the first time showcase a 4-way system based on the new AMD Opteron processors, as we read over here. As you know, AMD has already shown only one- and two-way systems based on the new x86-64 processors.

Many of you should be very curious about the performance of the new AMD processor, because all demos AMD used to run we could see only those applications, which are not that hungry for the CPU power, such as Internet Explorer 6. According to an AMD official, we will see a system working at full speed and showing maximum performance at this Computex.

Also AMD will demonstrate a mainboard for Opteron CPUs based on AMD-8000 and comprising the following components: AMD-8111 Input/Output hub, AMD-8131 PCI-X Bridge, AMD-8151 AGP Bridge supporting AGP 3.0 standard (AGP 8x).

Now we can conclude that K8 is nearly ready by now and AMD really has something cool to showcase. Nevertheless, none of our AMD sources feels like sharing some info on the new processor performance. hopefully, we will hear something new from Computex.

I think it's clear that all PRIOR demos were not at full clock speed (whatever that is), but that this one will be.

It begs the questions:

How fast is "full speed?"

Is Clawhammer at full speed yet?

Why is Sledgehammer scheduled 6 months after Clawhammer?
