PT, Re: "Sun sells about 1M CPUs per year according to this article:"

TGPTNDR was saying that less than 200k McKinley sales this year would mean that it's a failure. Are you telling me that if it sells 100K and takes 10% of Sun's high end market share in the first year of after its launch, that it will be a failure?

If Hammer ends up taking 10% of Intel's server market share in the first year after launch, you better believe that TGPTNDR and all his buddies will call it a screeeeeeeming success. Yes, I'm aware of the different volumes and all that, but 10% is 10%. It's a battle of mindshare against Sun, and the same rules apply as with AMD. Every McKinley processor sold at Sun's expense is a little more mindshare won by Intel.
