ComSec and TD Waterhouse both offer online US stock trading. I have an account with Datek though and only trade Aus on TD Waterhouse as I had the US account before the Aussie one.

For the Norteamericanos I'd look at Waterhouse in the US and see if they allow downunder trades.

My H1-B petition was approved by the INS in record time. Now I just need to wait for the documentation to arrive from my lawyer and I can head to Sydney (US only has embassy in Canberra, not consulate), pay some more fees and get the visa. Currently looking to fly to US around 19 July - Portland OR and then Albany NY.
