flapjack,

Re: I've seen too much devious crap first-hand to ever give Big Business the benefit the doubt ever again.

The only name of the game being played today is to enrich a handful of people at the top of the food chain.

What I found reassuring about reading Bill Black's recollection of the crazy business shenanigans of the 1980's is that the system does have a way to self-heal, to some extent. What must happen before business heals itself today is a clean sweep of the criminal co-operation class in the White House and at the head of the Congress. Only then will regulatory agencies be given some ability to, well, regulate. And prosecutors to do what they do.

One of the really sad polls I saw yesterday on Lou Dobb's "Moneyline" infotainment is that three of four respondents to a non-scientific poll believe the Enron criminals will never be prosecuted. This either is a whole lot of cynicism, or a clear-headed realization that white collar crime pays. Very well.
