Considering that the Defense Department's budget was $7 Trillion over the past 50 years, I was astounded that $2.3 was considered "taxpayer theft".
So I went back and looked it up. What I found, is that, indeed they cannot account where $2.3 trillion went. Much of this story was reported as early as Feb 2001, when Rumsfeld first returned to DOD. Record keeping was so bad, that the DOD, just can not account for what the money was used ot pay for, or where it went. So there is no way, at this point to figure how much was stolen, and how much was legit. Since most of the Defense budget is salarys, it seems as though most of the hardware payments were, in large not properly recorded.
I wonder if Monica and Linda were sent to DOD from the White House to "keep track of the books" at the DOD. lol. |
