I have a great fondness for intelligence agencies, have worked with them in technology research and deployment, and worked with some great people that I'm proud to call friends. That's one of the reasons I watch and comment.
In addition, the value we get from government can be an order of magnitude greater than it is, by enhancing the openness of the flows between gov't the internet and the public, which the intel services can facilitate. Instead, we're going the other direction, towards secrecy, restriction and deception.
What I deplore are the abuses and control by the leadership military and executive branch that remove it from all accountability, violate the law and subvert American ideals. The worst effect are dozens of non-American initiatives worldwide, and illegal influence of the media domestically.
JFK was right, they need to be dismantled, repointed to research, and ops left in the Pentagon where it belongs. |
