How will losing the VZ contract affect INSP's revenue? Do we have any upcoming plans to do something to get our share price up? Thanks..
Thank you for your interest in InfoSpace.
InfoSpace's discussions with Verizon Wireless around the deployment of innovative new wireless applications are continuing. In order to drive widespread usage and adoption of data services, carriers are today recognizing the need to offer innovative wireless applications over a broad range of standards including Speech, SMS, BREW and J2ME. We expect our relationship with Verizon Wireless to continue as we feel we are uniquely positioned to provide the services and applications to help our valued partner Verizon Wireless deliver compelling mobile data services (particularly those aimed at the youth and teen market) to their customers over a broad range of network and device standards.
Jim Straight, vice president of Wireless Data and Internet Services for Verizon Wireless, was quoted as follows in conjunction with the latest announcement:
"InfoSpace has been a valued partner of ours since the initial launch of our wireless data services almost two years ago and we expect this relationship to continue," said Jim Straight, vice president of Wireless Data and Internet Services for Verizon Wireless. "InfoSpace has proven itself to be a leading innovator of reliable wireless applications and services that drive usage and deliver value to our customers. We look forward to working closely with InfoSpace as we continue to build out and enhance our wireless data service offering."
We remain focused on profitability at every level of the company and we frequently look at a number of options that will drive shareholder value. We are exploring several initiatives that would address this issue should the poor market conditions persist, however, because we are a public company, it is not possible to publicly discuss these initiatives at this time. |
