<Once Upon A Time In America
A Boy and his Dog
Brazil
Alien
Saw>

oooh aaaah

I was blown away by The Harlan Ellison story, so
naturally when I saw the movie later, it couldn't
live up to what was burned into my minds eye.

Brazil. Terry Gilliam really put it together
for this one.

Once Upon a Time...and Sergio Leone also gave
us Claudia Cardinelle in Once Upon a Time in the
West. Also toward the top of my list.

Blade Runner ranks very high for me; I've not read
the story. The bright ending is a flaw. Rutger Hauer
has a great monologe, moonbeams and attack ships of
the shoulders of orion, great stuff.

...and I will add...

Cinema Paradiso--apparently it is going to be
released again soon with another 45 minutes
tacked into it.

I am not sure I can take that much nostalgia,
the first theatrical release nearly broke my
heart, jeezus, the Morricone soundtrack is
nearly enough to trigger sobbing.

And, I think because of the nostalgia thing again,
The Last Emperor.

I am usually weeping at the end.
Don't understand how anybody can watch
this one and not break down when the tour
group shows up, and the awful megaphone blares.

David Cronenberg, too creepy to make it into
my top ten, but Dead Ringers and eXistenZ are
very good. But I also like Jennifer Jason Leigh,
a lot.

fwiw
You can follow her over to The Hudsucker Proxy
and the Coen brothers.

and after reading the first hundred posts, I will
add to my top <ten> list
Jean De Florette & Manon of the Spring too...
and Doctor Zhivago,
and Glory, and Braveheart.

and even Star Trek--The Wrath of Khan.
and Star Wars--The Empire Strikes Back.
2001 A Space Odyssey is very good, but
probably does not fit into my top ten.

You have to make the cut somewhere.
