Good morning, croc,

Thank you! It was a wonderful memory to relive, and I am so glad Justin reminded me of it. Writing about it has left me happy and feeling very-- optimistic or something.

You have lilacs. OH, I am so so so envious. I grew up with an enormous lilac bush under my window-- a very old one that was huge, a child could walk in it as it were a forest.
And the fragrance coming in the windows was overwhelming- I could reach out from the second story and touch the blossoms.
It is too hot here in Dallas for lilacs. I don't think I have ever seen any. Do you have large bushes? Do lilacs even grow that large? Am I remembering something with a child's exaggerated memory?

X and I were talking about the reliability and reality of memories. And does it matter? She said this neat thing about how the past only exists in memory and artifact- and it is probably better to remember it in ways that give you pleasure in the moment now.

I don't think I really drank 42 gin and tonics.
